31st of March, 3083
The first quarter of this year saw ruthless acts of violence committed by House Kurita. There has been sabotage and terror in the very heart of the realms targeted by the Draconis Combine. In unmitigated acts, neither sanctioned by the Star League nor the Ares convention, DEST teams have been sent to the capitol worlds of Tharkad of the Lyran Alliance, New Avalon of the Federated Suns, and Alshain of the Rasalhague Dominion with the express purpose of sabotaging Fusion Plants near the Realm’s capitol’s creating rather large nuclear explosion and blankets of radiation to slowly wipe out their enemies. These atrocities have de-moralize the victims and aided in blanketing each states 4C complexes with enough radiation so as to disable their HPGs preventing them from communicating with their forces constantly engaged on the front with their aggressor the Draconis Combine. It appears that other Special Forces are taking their lead from the Dragon and are taking advantage of these three Realm’s weaknesses by launching their own attacks all along their border worlds. They have included, although not limited, to assassinations, bombings, and the sabotaging of fusion power plants to explode. Worlds of note along the Rasalhague Dominion shard border are Radstadt, Trondheim, and Tukayyid. Along the Lyran Alliance - Skye, Bolan, Cavanaugh II, Timbuktu, Coventry, and Melissia. Along the Federated Suns borders it has been the worlds of Valexa, Alcyone, Sirdar, Bromhead, Brockway, and Perdition. This is truly the beginning of the Fifth Succession War as the Inner Sphere deteriorates into terror and chaos.

22nd of July, 3083
The Draconis Combine continues to conquer worlds even with the entire weight of the collective Inner Sphere arrayed against it. House Kurita has captured three more worlds from the Federated Suns, Murchinson, Galatia III, Marduk. Two worlds from the Lyran Alliance Alkalurops and Accrington. And Rockland from the Rasalhague Dominion

The Growling Bears Trinary and 12th PGC successfully held the Rasalhague Dominion world of Last Frontier in the face of an invasion by the 8th Sword of Light and supporting regiments from the Draconis Combiner. After a month and a half of fighting, the 19th Phalanx arrived to reinforce the 12th and Growling Bears, prompting the 8th to withdraw. Fighting was very intense and scattered across the world. The capital city of Arlington has been partially destroyed by Combine Artillery. The Watch estimates suggest the Combine forces took fifty percent losses in machines and forty-two percent losses in personnel. The Growling Bears will be staying on world in the immediate future to assist in rebuilding.

DCMS Units On High Alert Amid Rumors of Clan Activity. The Draconis Combine Internal Security Force sources have indicated that several Kuritan Regiments in the Benjamin and Pesht military districts stationed near the mutual border with the Rasalhague Dominion have been put on high alert amidst reports of escalated communications and JumpShip activity in that realm and the nearby Clan Wolf occupation zone. Some of the rumors suggest the possibility of an offensive by Clan Wolf into Dominion territory, though one ISF official suggested this may be a ploy by Clan Watch operatives. "The Clans have become more savvy of late in the art of deception" the ISF official, who will remain anonymous, told us. "We believe they have learned from their interactions with Inner Sphere society of the past several decades, and this could be a lure for the Dragon. We are very wary." Tai-shu Petroff was unavailable for comment, but his office did confirm that DCMS assets in the districts are being put on alert and watching for any moves by the Dragon's Clan neighbors.

23rd of September, 3089
In a surprise move, the Rasalhague Dominion launched an attack on Clan Wolf. The First Rasalhague Bears, aided by the Growling Bears, issued a batchall for control of Rasalhague. The 4th Wolf Lancers, led by Star Colonel Robert Kerensky, defended, choosing the polar continent of the world for the Trial. Using an unexpected strategy and superior mobility, the Growling Bears set down a full day ahead of the rest of the Dominion forces. In a series of sharp engagements, Nova Captain Cade and his Supernova Trinary inflicted telling losses, drawing the attention of the 4th Lancers and maneuvering them out of position. As the rest of the Rasalhague forces arrived, the Wolves were pressed from both sides. Eventually forced back toward the 20 kilometer border around an industrial complex, Clan Wolf had to concede, having been cut off from their supply bases and lost command of the air. Star Colonel Osa Hall of the 1st Rasalhague Bears, granted the 4th Lancers Hegira, though forty percent of the Clan Wolf cluster were casualties.

Alshain Rasalhague Dominion - Major developments have been noted across the Rasalhague Dominion. Sources inside the Dominion report that several clusters have shifted duty stations and intense training exercises have been conducted on Alshain, Kempten and Spittal. Lead experts on the Dominion point to the recent attack by the Draconis Combine as the likely cause of these moves. "Never forget that the Rasalhague people only have so much say in their government," Doctor Joshua Martinez, Professor of Political Science, Tharkad University, stated. "The Ghost Bears still control the military in the region. The Combine has clearly not yet learned to leave sleeping bears lie. These moves are indicative of a retaliatory strike. Time will tell how serious the threat is." Though most analysts agree with Martinez, there is another viewpoint. "We get so caught up on the Clans as a threat to ourselves, we forget sometimes that they like to fight each other too," Dr. Vanessa Wren, Sanglamore University, said. "And the hatred between the Wolves and Bears is a thing of legend."

15th of July, 3090
In the face of insurrection against a brutal enemy, the 12th Bear Guards, the Growling Bears, rallied allied forces for a counter attack. After checking the Frihet advance at the Ursa Minor Training Facility, the Growling Bears launched a daring strike at the capital and HPG complex. Temporarily taking back the HPG, they sent word to Dominion command of the situation, then pulled back to the capital, where they succeeded in freeing a number of hostages taken by the Frihet. In brutal fighting, much of the city was destroyed as the Frihet pushed the Growling Bears back...but the arrival of reinforcements broke the back of the insurrection. As of the 15th of July, Orestes is fully back in the hands of the Rasalhague Dominion.

Origins and History:
The Rasalhague Dominion was formed and recognized on November 23rd, 3074 from an alliance between the Free Rasalhague Republic and Clan Ghost Bear. The alliance had been declared less than two months prior on October 7th of the same year. Almost immediately this ‘new nation’ started striking towards Terra at SLDF 2nd Army units in the Ueda, Karbala, Al Hillah, Grumium, Tukayyid, and Dehgolan systems. The Star League was defeated on most of these worlds by what were predominantly Ghost Bear forces, with small contributions by the FRR’s former KungsArme. Eventually the SLDF ordered a complete withdrawal from the FRR Military Region on June 10th, 3075 after suffering significant losses in the attempt to defend the attacked systems.

Despite the withdrawal in progress, Clan Ghost Bear’s 304th and 322nd Assault Clusters, under the command of Khan Bjorn Jorgensson attacked Orestest, one of only two systems in the region SLDF forces remained present in. Bjorn Jorgensson was killed during the battle, against the 11th Division as well as Wolf’s Dragoons and Kell Hound elements. Aletha Kabrinski soon replaced Jorgensson as the Ghost Bear Khan and remains in the position to this day. It wasn’t until February 17th of 3076 that the last Star League troops would remove themselves from the Rasalhague Dominion, and even then under assault by the clanners. A DMM back mercenary battalion, the Hellstorm Hussars, and reinforcements from the Draconis Combine helped prevent the destruction of the SLDF’s 28th Division on Dehgolan, but all three units withdrew as per the order for withdrawal.

The Rasalhague Dominion remained fairly withdrawn for the next two years, not participating in any significant military action again until September, 3078. It was then that they began probing their Draconis border for the first time since the war back in 3067, with small strikes on the Meilen, Kiamba, Schuyler and Idlewind systems. It is unclear exactly what triggered these attacks, and the larger ones that followed. Some speculate that it was the Dominion’s observation of the Kuritan’s deteriorating relationship with the Star League, which in truth allowed them to attack an Inner Sphere nation without interference from SLDF troops. The ongoing war has only seen the change in hands of the Sternwerde system so far, conquered during a counter-strike by the Fifth Pesht Regulars and DCMS-backed mercenaries.

The 3080s were been difficult for the Dominion. Despite the great fanfare surrounding the integration of Clan Ghost Bear and the Free Rasalhague Republic to form the Rasalhague Dominion, the new nation had been under nearly constant attack.

Clan Wolf’s attacks against the Dominion came first in 3076 and were surprisingly successful. Mixed units of Ghost Bear Warriors and Kungsarme troops adopted into the Clan’s Warrior Caste were still sorting themselves out when these attacks came. The Draconis Combine also became aggressive and in 3080 it was learned that Coordinator Hohiro Kurita had been working on a proposal for an SLDF operation against the Rasalhague Dominion. The news of this soured relationships between the two powers.

In 3077 difficulties integrating the FRR troops with the Clan Ghost Bear warriors resulted in a mutiny by the former FRR troops, causing upheaval in the Dominion and initiating the genesis of several Free-Rasalhague resistance movements that continue to be a source of misery for the Dominion to this day.
In March 3083 things came to a head. The Draconis Combine launched a series of bombings and assassinations across the Rasalhague Dominion. The most dastardly of these attacks occurred on Alshain, where three fusion power plants were sabotaged, causing massive nuclear explosions in some cases, and spills of radiation into water air and soil in others. Khan Bjorn Jorgensson died in this attack.

The pain and misery didn’t end there. The Rasalhague Dominion was the victim of several Society DNA-targeted viruses, the most talked about of which was aimed at the prestigious Tseng Bloodline, killing many warriors and lower castemen who carried those genetic markers. In addition the Leviathan class warship “Leviathan” was affected by a SLOT virus transmitted from a planetary HPG, triggering a misjump within a planetary gravity well and destroying the vessel (along with two Clusters of warriors). Dealing with this internal crisis stalled plans by the Dominion to retaliate against its attackers.

In 3094 the Dominion took a series of major steps toward restoring Rasalhagian rights to government authority. The Clan Council became the Dominion Council and Elected Prince Ragnar Magnusson became the realm's ruler, with the Khan serving as the commander-in-chief of the Dominion Defense Force.

Politics:

The year 3094 has become a historic year for the Rasalhague Dominion. Several long-debated issues regarding how the Dominion should be ruled were finally settled.

The most public decision was to recreate the position of Elected Prince as the civilian leadership of the Dominion. The person occupying this post must be elected by the Dominion Council and have prior military experience. saKhan Ragnar Magnusson, held in high regard by both segments of Dominion society and a chief architect of all of these changes, is the undisputed favorite to become the first Elected Prince, with an election scheduled for the final weeks of 3094. In day-to-day practice, he is already filling the role as interim Elected Prince while the details of the new government arrangement are hammered out.

Under the new system the Clan Khan will be the political second-in-command of the Dominion and commander-in-chief of the Dominion Defense Force, which will include both the Clan Touman and the KungsArme. A significant planned change to warrior life will be allowing warriors to leave the warrior caste and retire to other pursuits. Clan planners are already pushing the first cohort of retiring Clan warriors towards roles as Warrior-Scientists and Warrior-Technicians with responsibility over the Eugenics Program. Many Clan leaders are still wary of the scientists after what happened with the Society.

The Clan Council is already being replaced with a Dominion Council, made up of equal parts Bloodnamed Trueborn warriors, freeborn warriors (predominately KungsArme), and civilians. The civilians are mostly appointed representatives of the Dominion’s worlds (and representatives of the Valdherres, the planetary leaders), though the leaders of the traditional Clan lower castes also have seats on the Dominion Council. The Dominion Council has the authority to overrule, and even replace, the Elected Prince and the Khan.

Despite the flood of non-Clan members, the Dominion Council is retaining some Clan trappings. For example, the Trial of Refusal continues to exist, as a means of resolving political disputes. Council members can fight directly or designate champions to fight in their stead.

For the Clan lower castes, day-to-day life is also expected the change. To allow for the Clan lower castes and the Rasalhagian civilians to better conjoin as a people, many traditional restrictions on the lower castes are being removed. As a result, the distinction between the castes are disappearing. It will probably still take decades to achieve but many are predicting the elimination of the caste distinctions (the exception being the warrior caste) all-together.

A final economical change with the adoption of the Bear-Kroner as the nation’s single currency, to replace the mixed bag of currencies that were in use.

Looking outward, there has been a notable cooling off of the constant hostilities between the Dominion and Clan Wolf. The two have been fighting in Clan-style trials for years over everything from genetic legacies to entire worlds, with the notable culmination of the unnamed conflict being the capture of Rasalhague itself by the Dominion. But both sides seemed to have grown weary and begun scaling back operations out of sheer exhaustion, both satisfied at having achieved some of their aims.

However, the reunification of Clan Wolf has already imperiled that fragile mutual understanding. That Clan’s new Shining Example Doctrine has confused the Dominion as to Clan Wolf’s goals and left it wondering where the Wolves, it’s touman now stronger than ever, will strike next. At the same time the Dominion continues to still perceive all former Rasalhague worlds as rightfully theirs, a claim routinely spoken in the Dominion Council and on the Dominion’s streets and around dinner tables. As a result few expect any peace to last for long.

Economy and Culture:
The Bear-krona is the official currency of the Rasalhague Dominion, similar in design and fasion to the FRR’s old Krona. It is currently valued at 2.83 C-bills per Bear-krona. Whom the Ghost Bears trade with and what takes place in these exchanges is not known, though it is speculated that Clans Wolf and Diamond Shark are likely candidates.

Culturally the Rasalhague Dominion might be the most diverse nation in the Inner Sphere. The already diverse Free Rasalhague Republic, with Norwegian, Swedish, German, English and Japanese influences has been morphed to include the quite different Clan culture as well. The most influential philosophy appears to be Atheism.

Foreign Relations:
The Rasalhague Dominion is a wedge in space, a narrow and tightly winded society coiled together with no breathing room. It’s on the verge of bursting and exploding outward in any or all directions. It sees many of its neighboring worlds, especially those that were formerly under Ghost Bear or Free Rasalhague Republic rule, as rightly theirs. This sense of destiny is driving desires for expansion, but the Rasalhagians do not naturally embrace war for conquest the way Clan warriors do, and so necessary political pretexts must be found to justify their actions.
