Though it bakes beneath a huge sun that is, in fact, part of a double-binary star system, Mizar has managed to become known as one of the greatest resort worlds in the Inner Sphere. The arrangement of the double binary system leads to complex solar cycles on Mizar that assure the planet is fully lit almost perpetually. Varying degrees of sunlight from the four A-class suns of the Mizar system produce peculiarly long and irregular seasons, varying from a temperate terrestrial springtime to a lingering tropical heat wave even at the poles.

Despite the heat, however, Mizar was miraculously blessed with an abundance of water, native life, and breathtaking vistas from New Venice Beach, the planet's longest stretch of snow-white sands, along the eastern coast of the Paradasia continent, to the 'plastic crystal' mountains of the southern Utopian Isles. These features made Mizar a tourist spot almost from the moment of its discovery, and the hospitality of the natives became legendary. They welcomed the Terran Hegemony when Admiral McKenna first forged the empire that would one day rule the Star League, and throughout humanity's Golden Age Mizar was jointly administered by the Hegemony and the neighboring Lyran Commonwealth.

Their economy booming as a tourist spot, the Mizarians came to obsess about appearances and all the finer things in life, from fancy cars and the latest fashions, to palatial estates and cutting-edge sculptures made from native plastic crystal, all meticulously groomed and refined for maximum beauty at all times. The Amaris Crisis, which precipitated the fall of the Star League, spared Mizar only because the Lyran government's troops were already on-planet in force when word of the coup broke out; Amaris decided against putting another Successor State at his throat while Kerensky's noose closed around him.

Throughout the Succession Wars few raids were launched against the world, but those few invaders who did land on the surface often as not found themselves unable to bring themselves to harm the planet's greatest natural and man-made wonders, instead hoping to capture this world intact. The absence of significant military or industrial resources also made Mizar a poor invasion candidate.

Today, visitors are more than welcome to land at any of the four major spaceports on the Majestica, Paradasia, Solasia, and Wunderlund continents, though the capital city of NouveauParis on Solasia remains the most stunning of the planet's hot spots and the best place to get a good Fire Lizard, Mizar's very own specialty drink.

In the war against the Free Worlds League, Archon Adam Steiner has been looking for a way to take the fight to Captain-General Agatha Marik in a more personal way. The LIC believes we've found that path.

Force Commander Carlos Marik, commanding officer of the 3rd Battalion, 10th Marik Militia is on Mizar. Carlos is the son of Duncan Marik. Born in 3034, Duncan's sole legitimate child has always been a problem for the Marik family. Not because of anything he has done, but simply what he reminds the family of. Although he scarcely recalls his father or the Andurien War of Succession, he was always regarded by Thomas Marik and his heirs as a potential political rival. He was also tarred with his father's disgrace. For this he and his family have faced a lifetime of scorn and suspicion by his own family.

He made a career of the FWLM, most of it spent as a Captain in the 25th Marik Militia. He was basically sidelined for years with no prospects for advancement. His good service during the FWL Civil War, and his publicly proclaimed loyalty to Alys Rousset-Marik came with a promotion to Force Commander. But under Agatha Marik's rule, suspicion has returned and he once again feels sidelined. A similar shame has befallen his sons as well.

The decades of scorn and suspicion have grown too much for Carlos Marik. He has been in quiet contact with the Lyran Intelligence Corps for a couple years now. Our talks have finally born fruit. Carlos Marik wishes to defect.

If he and his wife Julia, and adult sons Jericho (age: 35) and Phillip (age 27) are brought to Tharkad, he has agreed to be recognized, by the Archon, as the rightful ruler of the Free Worlds League.

That will just the beginning of Adam Steiner's countermove against Agatha Marik.

Force Commander Carlos Marik's command is on Mizar, the entire 10th Marik Militia with its supporting units and the Mizar Planetary Militia. Carlos Marik has arranged for his family to be with him.

His eldest son Jericho is a medical doctor, recently reassigned to a FWLM medical center on Mizar at his own request. His youngest son, Phillip, is a Lieutenant and mechwarrior in the 10th Marik Militia's second battalion. To our knowledge, all of them wish to defect.

A contingent of the 13th Donegal Guards Regimental Combat Team, supported by attack and carrier dropships of the LAAF Navy, will launch a large raid on Mizar. This raid is intended to be a distraction.

While this large, very visible raid is underway, your command, working with LIC operatives, will execute a plan to secure Carlos Marik and all of his family members, and deliver them safely to Lyran space.

If you are successful in this, there may be an opportunity for you to participate in guerrilla warfare operations sponsored by the LIC.

1) Work with the LIC to develop the plan to extract Carlos Marik and his family
2) Extract Carlos Marik and his family from Mizar and complete their defection by bringing them to Lyran space

1) Limit collateral damage to Mizar
2) Conceal Carlos Marik's defection for as long as possible
