La Blon is a tropical world almost completely covered by water. Its three main landmasses, Elise (in the northern hemisphere), Ballay, and Renaria (in the southern), are more like large islands than continents, and each is surrounded by a host of smaller island clusters. This, combined with the planet's warmth and typically moderate weather - except during the "wet seasons," when tropical storms and hurricanes become more of the norm - has made La Blon a favorite vacation spot for tourists.

Despite this allure, it was the abundant natural resources of the planet and its inhabitable moon, Ivanov, which drew colonists here centuries ago. A wealth of common metals and modestly fertile soils have given La Blon a subsistence-level economy in mining, light manufacturing, and even agriculture, more than enough to supplement its seasonal tourism trade. These features made La Blon a favorite corporate retreat during the height of the Star League and again under Lyran rule during the height of the Federated Commonwealth alliance. La Blon became known as the place where one could go to get away from it all and still be connected to the real world.

Though the planet's exports offered very little of military value, raids were not uncommon during the Succession Wars after the Star League fell. Fortunately, these raids did little to mar the natural beauty or seriously disrupt the local economy and infrastructure of this planet. While this has limited any actual fighting that happened within the system over the centuries, the people of La Blon eventually earned a reputation for navet, assuming that war either could not touch them, or that its effects would only be a slight disruption, like mid-flight turbulence.

La Blon's capital, Amadeus, is located at the foot of the Carbondale Mountains on Elise. The city is also home to the planet's largest spaceport. The coastal city of Lisellei, on the Renaria continent, boasts the planet's largest seaport, and is home to the Diamond Mine, easily La Blon's largest casino resort.

Socio-Industrial Levels:
Technological Development
Advanced world with access to many new technologies; world hosts universities; good medical care available, though without benefit of bionics and other cutting-edge technologies; basic microelectronics industry.
Industrialization Level
Moderately industrialized; may produce a limited number/quantity of specific complex products.
Raw Material Dependence
World/system produces all the raw materials needed and commonly exports large quantities of surplus.
Industrial Output
World has a moderate industrial base that produces a few different categories of products, exporting some of the output.
Agricultural Dependence
World has and environment producing most foods, but relies on some imports for food not capable of being grown.

As part of our military alliance with the Draconis Combine, ComStar has been routing Com Guard divisions into the Combine’s front with the Free Worlds League. One of these units, the 83rd Com Guards Division, was recently involved in a failed assault on Athenry. It suffered heavy losses and was pulled back to La Blon. The supporting DCMS armor, infantry and Admiralty forces practically died to the last man. Although the division is still a combat capable force, it has been diminished by the loss of the equivalent loss of two entire battalions (Level IIIs) of its force. Furthermore, a number of its best Acolytes and Adepts died on Athenry under the guns of the 2nd Free Worlds Legionnaires.

Reinforcements are being routed to La Blon and have already begun to arrive. The division has begun a training cycle to integrate those troops. In the more immediate term however, ROM thinks La Blon may come under attack.

At this point the Free Worlds League knows that the 83rd is damaged. They also know that it represents the only line unit on La Blon. We anticipate a heavy raid or invasion. To lessen the danger the 4th Assault Dropship Squadron has been stationed at La Blon as well.

We need your unit to help stiffen La Blon’s defense. You will report to the 83rd Division’s Precentor Aarden, who will provide the particulars on your defensive assignment. If you do well here, you may be offered a supplemental contract to work with the 83rd Division on its next offensive assignment.

1) Defend La Blon from any invasion or raid
2) Support the 83rd Com Guard Division

1) Become proficient at working with the 83rd, in case you are included in a supplemental contract
2) Keep collateral damage to La Blon low
