Discovered in the late 2290s, Cavanaugh was not settled until 2325 when the planet was first sold to a wealthy member of the former English royal court. Duke Alvin Windsor-Moon organized a team made up of English, Welsh and Scots to colonize Cavanaugh. Included in this group of settlers were the entire Arthurian Actors Guild.

The settlers were not accustomed to the planet's climate and atmospheric conditions, however. Cavanaugh's star was older and hotter than Terra's and the planet's average temperature was 15'C higher than their former homeland. Happily, the planet was rich in timber and the soil fertile; Cavanaugh would support those that had come to settle it.

In honor of their heritage, colonists named the planet's island continents and moons after English historical figures and places, according to their Cambridge historians. Of Cavanaugh's five continents, only one was uninhabitable. Named after Mordred, because of the massive volcanic activity and unstable land no one could live there and survive. Bedivere, Tristram, Gareth and Gawain, all similar in size to the Terran continent of Australia, support Cavanaugh's population. The capital of Caerleon is built on an island in reproduction of its namesake.

Cavanaugh II was invaded by the Free Worlds League in the 3080s as part of their Operation Switchblade. The LAAF blunted that operation, especially at Hesperus, and eventually pushed the FWLM back out of Cavanaugh II in an impressive counteroffensive.

The FWLM does not seem eager to forgive or forget. Even while the main front of the war progresses in around Terra, Cavanaugh II has been the site of periodic conflicts between the two nations. This has most often taken the form of raids, both large and small. Some of these have been little more than air raids carried out by aerospace fighters. Others have dropped 'mechs and troops to attack various targets. As a result of these raids, several militia and LAAF bases, supply depots and military airfields scattered all over Cavanaugh II have been reduced to ruin. It’s not an understatement to say Cavanaugh II’s population has begun to show signs of a siege mentality. The sound of air raid sirens blaring have become too often the norm.

What’s made the raids all the more frustrating is that the FWLM has been able to pull them off with minimal casualties to the principal raiding unit, the 12th Atrean Dragoons and their supporting ground and air units with their headquarters on Tamarind. This has perpetuated the belief that Cavanaugh II is weak and an easy target.

Cavanaugh II’s militia defenders has been screaming for assistance and they are finally getting it. Our aim is to sufficiently bloody the FWLM’s nose that they leave Cavanaugh II alone for a while. We’re sending a strong armor regiment, aerospace wing and several combat dropships to Cavanaugh II. The Devil’s Brigade mercenary command has also been hired to defend Cavanaugh II. Your strength should complement that force nicely.

1) Work with the allied units to defend Cavanaugh II from raiding
2) Sufficiently bloody any raiding forces to send a clear signal to the FWLM

1) Gather intelligence on raiding forces regarding FWLM plans or deployments on the other side of the border
2) Limit civilian collateral damage
