Discovered shortly after the collapse of the Terran Alliance, Kikuyu was slowly colonized by refugees from New Zealand, Tasmania and the Australian continent. A desert world, the planet only has one continent named Queensland, with two large archipelagos named New Tasmania and Auckland. Queensland had similar qualities to the Terran continent of Australia, satisfying most of the colonists.

The center of the continent is a vast desert wasteland named the Great Victorian Desert. Beneath the reddish-tan soil lies the reason Kikuyu was colonized radioactive ores and rare metals. The southern coast of Queensland is the fertile basin of Jelto Ran Delta, where the planetary capital of New Sydney was established.

The archipelago islands were set up as nation states, thanks to the nationalism of the New Zealander and Tasmanian refugees. Auckland Archipelago was named in honor of a city located on the North Cape. Willington is the capital, located on the northern coast. New Tasmania, with its capital of New Hobart, is the smallest of the landmasses. It has also proven to be the toughest to settle, in part due to the appearance of Kikuyu's own version of the Tasmanian Devil. This sixty-kilogram carnivore proved to be even nastier than its Terran counterpart.

Socio-Industrial Levels:
Technological Development
Advanced world with access to many new technologies; world hosts universities; good medical care available, though without benefit of bionics and other cutting-edge technologies; basic microelectronics industry.
Industrialization Level
Moderately industrialized; may produce a limited number/quantity of specific complex products.
Raw Material Dependence
World/system produces all the raw materials needed and commonly exports large quantities of surplus.
Industrial Output
World has a moderate industrial base that produces a few different categories of products, exporting some of the output.
Agricultural Dependence
World has and environment producing most foods, but relies on some imports for food not capable of being grown.

The Lyran Alliance Armed Forces needs a mercenary command to supplement the defense of Kikuyu. In this region, sometimes called the Clermont Gap, LAAF forces face the threat of a Jade Falcon attack from nearly all sides on the five worlds that are circled by Clan Occupation Zone. We have been steadily building up the defenses of these worlds and they have fended off plenty of Clan raids.

The current rotation of units includes the Fifteenth Lyran Regulars, one of the LAAF's few Battle Armor Infantry Regiments, and a composite regiment of armor, infantry and artillery support. The Kikuyu Militia's primary combat elements are three Armored Brigades that mix tanks and mechanized infantry into multi-regimental formations. The Kikuyu Militia has also been assigned a LAAF fighter wing.

The Mjolnir-class Battlecruiser LAS Urdarbrunnr and Dante-class LAS Constellation and their flotilla of combat dropships and aerospace fighter carriers is currently patrolling the system.

Leutnant-General Amare Jakande is the current commanding officer of all Kikuyu forces and you will be assigned a liason officer from his staff headquarters.

Your job is to defend against any Jade Falcon raid or assault. Our simulations show a high risk that Kikuyu may be overrun in the event of a major Falcon incursion intended to overrun the Clermont Gap. If that were to happen, the disastrous outcome would be if all our forces inside the pocket were cut off and destroyed. Therefore, if General Jakande decides to withdraw from Kikuyu to preserve the army, you may be tasked to aid in delaying the Falcons until an orderly evacuation can be executed. Kikuyu's jump points are also important, they are among the most likely route out of the Clermont Gap that our jumpships would take. So holding Kikuyu for as long as possible is vital if the Falcons invade.

1) Defend Kikuyu from any Jade Falcon incursion
2) Work with land and naval forces in the Kikuyu system

1) Assist in efforts to boost Kikuyu's military prepardness
2) Assist in any strategy ordered by General Jakande
