Virentofta is not a particularly valuable world. It's only claims to fame are minor mining deposits of heavy ores and relative agricultural abundance. Despite the latter, population growth on the only habitable world in the system (in first position from its star) had never been high. This has been attributed by most to the relatively high education level of the original settlers sometime during the Reunification War.

Notable locations include the University of Virentofta's Oval, the major starport at the capital city of Port Shianty, and several moderately productive mining operations to the north of the planet's only continent.

Relevant Data:

[3050] Clan Smoke Jaguars' Trinary Assault and Alpha Elemental Star, 225th Jaguar Battle Cluster, landed on top of the Seventh Hell's Brigade as they attempted to lift offplanet. Forced into a desperately uneven fight, the two 'Mechs companies and infantry battalion of the Brigade fought a raging battle across the open fields surrounding the Port Shianty starport for several hours. Finally, two points of Elementals seized the Brigades DropShips, and most of the unit died in an ill-fated attempt to recapture them.

[3059] During Operation Bulldog, the fighting to retake Virentofta was especially fierce. Though greatly outnumbered by the attacking 1st FedSuns Armored Cavalry, ComStar's 31st Division, Stirling's Fusiliers and the Northwind Hussars, the defending Jaguar's forces fought to the last warrior, inflicting significant damage.

Socio-Industrial Levels:
Technological Development
World of moderate advancement; average educational systems and medical care; microelectronics can not be manufactured.
Industrialization Level
Basic heavy industry at level of 22nd century; fusion engines possible but no complex products (including BattleMechs).
Raw Material Dependence
World/system produces all the raw materials needed and occasionally exports a small surplus.
Industrial Output
World has a small industrial base that may produce a limited number of products for export.
Agricultural Dependence
World has abundant environment producing enough to sustain the population using agriculture technologies; limited exports.

The Rasalhague Dominion and Clan Snow Raven have both launched attacks on Combine systems. The extent of the invasion, and its objectives, remain unclear, but the Combine, focused on fighting the Free Worlds League, was not as prepared as it should have been.

On the Snow Raven border, Virentolfa was one of the worlds hit first. The First Raven Phalanx Cluster and the Fourth Raven Wing Cluster routed the defenders on the ground. The surviving military forces, a mix of line armor and infantry and militia, have scattered to wage a guerrilla war. In space, the 27th Naval Support Squadron was attacked by a large Snow Raven space force that included warships. Several ships were lost and the rest were forced to surrender or were taken in boarding actions. With their jumpships disabled or having fled, there was little more they could do.

The latest news out of Virentolfa is that the captured dropships were landed.

We intend to recover those vessels.

The original squadron consisted of ten vessels, ranging from Avenger to Taihou Assault Dropships to Okinawa-class carrier vessels, assigned to watch the border. We suspect at least four of those vessels are on the surface being repaired by Clan technicians.

The Snow Raven forces are pretty spread out. Virentolfa’s soldiers are still causing trouble for the Ravens, so we suspect that the starport isn’t strongly defended. The Raven warships have moved on with the front line of their invasion forces. Virentolfa is now a rear area of the invasion corridor.

We need you to cover the DEST teams, and armed spacers that are going to go in, seize those vessels on the ground, and fly them out. Jumpships will take you to the system via a pirate jump point and you will exit the same way.

Even under ideal circumstances this will be a tricky raid. But if it succeeds it will not only garner several desperately needed ships, but also be a blow to the Snow Raven’s sense of security. Anything that slows the Ravens down is helpful while the Dragon responds to this crisis.

1) Provide support and cover for the DEST Teams and armed ship crews
2) Aid in the recovery of those combat vessels

1) Return with any viable intelligence on Virentolfa’s situation
2) Return with any viable intelligence on Clan Snow Raven’s operations or future plans
